The term “futon” in futon beds originated from the Japanese culture. When not used as a bed during day time, these beds can be configured in a certain way to transform them into a couch. This is possible with an axle in the middle of their frames, which allows them to be flexed or folded.
Futon beds are usually filled with foam and batting in multiple layers, which makes them thicker compared to Japanese futons thus; they resemble regular sized mattresses. These beds now serve as an alternative to regular beds and other furniture pieces. In addition to that, they also come with detachable and replaceable covers, which make them more versatile. Types of Futon Beds
Futon Bunk Beds – these types of beds are a combination of both a bunk bed and a futon beds. Metal Futon Beds – these types are lighter compared to other varieties. These are also the sturdiest among all futon beds. These works great if you want to have a contemporary look inside any room.
